The city of Graymoor-Devondale is an incorporated city in Jefferson County created in 1986 when former incorporated city of Devondale merged with the former city of Graymoor .. The history of this city, however, dates back to the early 1800’s and a man named John Herr, among the first settlers who came to this part of the country with very little money. By the time he died, he owned about 1,000 acres of land in Kentucky along the Ohio River. Much of it is now the City of Graymoor-Devondale. One of his properties, the Magnolia Stock Farm still stands. Today, the city lies 1 mile north of Saint Mathews and 4 miles West of Anchorage. This lovely city is home to 2,836 residents in single family homes along green and lush streets. The nearest schools are Wilder Elementary School, Kammerer Middle School and Ballard High School (Magnet).
